Treasure Trader Dev Log #2: Realizing Our 2D Game Vision

At Treasure Trader, we're dedicated to creating an engaging and immersive 2D pirate exploration and strategy game. Our vision is to deliver a rich, expansive world filled with adventure, strategic decision-making, and the chance to become the most notorious pirate of all time. To bring this vision to life, we've identified several key features that will shape the final product.

1. New Backgrounds (static and animated)

Our static and animated backgrounds set the scene for your pirate journey across the infinite sea map. They provide visual depth, interest, and a sense of adventure, drawing players into Treasure Trader's world.

2. New Ship Assets & Ship Upgrades

New ships and upgrades add variety to your pirate fleet and offer unique characteristics that enhance the gameplay experience. 

3. New Pirate Assets & Assign Pirate Crews (Crew of Five) per Ship

Creating pirate crews adds variety to your pirate fleet and offers unique characteristics that enhance gameplay experiences. These new pirates bring bonuses to sailing speed, cargo capacity, and other advantages contributing to an engaging experience.

4. Background Music

Immersive background music complements the mood and setting of Treasure Trader. Our composers create captivating scores that dynamically change based on your pirate's progression and exploration, adding excitement and depth to the game.

5. Sound FX

Sound effects provide valuable feedback and excite various gameplay elements, from battles to trading and ship movement. These cues make Treasure Trader more enjoyable and immersive.

6. Quest Line

The quest line guides new players through Treasure Trader's complex systems and introduces them to strategic gameplay mechanics. Each quest offers unique rewards that help progress your pirate's journey, providing a clear path for advancement.

7. More Animations

Animations enhance the visual appeal of Treasure Trader and contribute to an engaging experience. Our team creates new animations, such as tile unlock effects, which add excitement and depth to exploration and interaction with the game world.

8. Leveling System (player, ship, pirate, island, town, etc.)

The leveling system rewards players for their achievements and progression within the game. As you gain experience points through various activities, you'll unlock new abilities, items, ships, and other advantages that support your growth.

9. Connect the Leveling System to the Quest Line

Quests are linked to the leveling system, ensuring that each quest offers meaningful rewards and a clear path for progression. This connection keeps players engaged and motivated as they explore Treasure Trader's world.

10. Shipping Routes

Establishing shipping routes between ports is essential for efficient trading and resource management. The type of ships and crew sent on these routes affects resource and time costs, making strategic decisions crucial for success.

11. Island Map

The Island Map is essential for managing resources, discovering new island features, and strategically planning your next moves in Treasure Trader. This feature allows players to view a zoomed island map, interact with various island tiles, or gain valuable insights into a pirate's stronghold layout. 

12. Create Island Tile Types (cook station, armory, warehouse, farm, grassland, forest, mountain [rock and metal resources], cave [gems & minerals], small/med/lg city, castle, lumber yard, and quarry)

Interactive island tiles offer new opportunities for resource gathering, crew training, and infrastructure development. Each tile type provides unique advantages that contribute to strategic gameplay and pirate growth.

13. Farm Mode (farm resources)

Farming allows players to grow crops and raise livestock for valuable resources and food supplies. This feature adds depth to Treasure Trader's economic systems, providing a more balanced resource acquisition and management.

14. Grassland Island Tiles can be changed into interactive tiles (lumberyard, armory, quarry, etc.)

Players can upgrade grassland tiles to create new structures that support their strategic goals and pirate development. This flexibility allows for a more customizable gaming experience.

15. VIP Floating Island

VIP members receive exclusive benefits through their floating islands, including access to specialized merchants and resources. These islands offer increased convenience and opportunities for growth within the game.

16. VIP Leveling System: leveled by store purchases (Starter pack, treasure chests, Coins, Trade Item pack) using USD currency

The VIP leveling system offers monetization opportunities for players who want to accelerate their progression within Treasure Trader using real-world currency. This feature supports our business model and provides an additional revenue stream.

17. Treasure Chests (chance to get resources, coins, ships/pirates, and/or blueprints)

Treasure chests offer exciting rewards, including valuable resources, coins,  ships/pirates, and blueprints for new structures and upgrades. These rewards encourage exploration and engagement with various gameplay activities.

18. Game Difficulty Levels (easy, medium, hard, squash buckler)

Difficulty levels cater to different player skill sets, providing a more personalized gaming experience. This feature ensures that Treasure Trader remains engaging for players of all abilities and keeps them challenged as they progress through the game.

19. Co-op Play

Collaborating with other players in co-op mode offers new possibilities, such as sharing resources and strategies, working together to conquer challenges, or simply enjoying the game with friends. This feature expands Treasure Trader's community and enhances the overall gaming experience.
